On his numerous train journeys through Romania, Horst Klein photographed the ‘Red Caps’, as the traditional train attendants on the platforms are affectionately called. He captured the fleeting encounters he had with them in photographs observing them performing their everyday duties, ‘’executing the departure order‘’, which sometimes appears strict and orderly, but sometimes somewhat flippant. Furthermore, he takes a look at the passing landscapes, thus letting the book become a virtual train journey through a Romania that will soon disappear.
