Afterlife is the sixth chapter of Vasantha Yogananthan’s long-term project A Myth of Two Souls, inspired by the epic tale The Ramayana.
Drawing inspiration from the imagery associated with this myth and its pervasiveness in Indian everyday life, Vasantha Yogananthan has reconstructed the legendary journey from north to south of India.
Afterlife focuses on the bloody war between Ravana’s and Rama’s army; as the title suggests, this chapter deals with death and reincarnation.
That is why, once back in his studio, Yogananthan worked with collage, mixing different images to keep the viewer in a constant state of disorientation.
