Between 1990 and 2001 the Swiss photographer Doris Peter documents the change in the Bulgarian capital Sofia and its residents with her medium format camera. For many people who have to adapt to the new circumstances after the fall of Communism, life has turned into a daily struggle for survival. Sofia – in broad daylight conveys a soulful and participatory view of Sofia and its people. This impressive trilingual photobook consists of 356 pages with 212 black and white photographs, stories told by eyewitnesses, texts about the people and the city, and a chronicle of the political and social events.
