We invite artists to apply for the Darkroom Residency at Bildband, an opportunity to develop and present new work in our black and white darkroom and gallery space. The residency is open to artists at all levels and international applicants are welcome. Applicants should have prior experience in darkroom printing, and the selected resident will be expected to leave one work behind for the Bildband collection.

Duration: 2 weeks

Dates: Thursday, 22 January – Wednesday, 4 February 2026

Exhibition: Opening Thursday, 5 February 2026; running until Wednesday, 25 February 2026 in Bildband’s main space (3 weeks)

Facilities: Access to Bildband’s black & white darkroom includes five excellent enlargers, suitable for formats from 35mm to 5x4 inch: Leitz Focomat 1c, Leitz Focomat 2c, Durst M605, Leitz Focomat V35, and Meopta Magnitarus large format. The darkroom is also equipped with PE and baryt paper dryers, as well as all the sinks and trays you need.
