In the late 1970s, Hans W. Mende photographed the rural life of his grandparents on their small farm in the Wesermarsch. The recurring everyday activities, the management of the farm, the landscape with its formative influence, the slow processes of change that become visible over the years and the difficult farewell at the end of a long life.

The picture cycle is a great document of the time, which addresses the relationship between man and nature and the transience of life in an unsentimental but touching way.

›Leise Wandlungen‹ was published in a first edition in 1982 by the ›Palmenpresse‹ and was awarded the KODAK PHOTO BOOK PRIZE at the time.
