Christian Reister – Berlin Nights
Hoxton Mini Press – 2018
Christian Reister’s black-and-white photographs capture the ethereal, hedonistic and surreal character of Berlin at night. With compact 35mm camera and monochrome vision, he scans the city for unstaged moments and random encounters, exposing the underground clubs (many of which have now closed) and wild energy of a unique city that comes truly alive after dark.
Christian Reister took up photography in 2001 and has been capturing life on Berlin streets ever since. After taking colour pictures for the first 10 years he switched to black and white, adopting an atmospheric, grainy and often blurry style. Reister’s work has appeared in exhibitions in Europe as well as various photo films, live projections, books and magazines.
