Two great photographers from the LA publishing house ‘The Ice Plant’
Bildband Berlin are very excited to welcome the American photographers Mike Slack and Tim Carpenter to launch their new books from the great Los Angeles publishing house ‘The Ice Plant’.
In ‘Walking in Place 2: Berlin’, Mike Slack offers a meditative, if not psychic, expansion on the threads underpinning the first title in his series of stand alone books, ‘Walking in Place 1: New Orleans’. While his meanderings through the Big Easy saw him piece together a playful dialogue of architectural gestures, cats, flora and street ephemera.
In ‘Christmas Day, Bucks Pond Road’, Brooklyn-based photographer Tim Carpenter revisits the Central Illinois topography with a sequence of 56 black-and-white medium-format photographs, all made on a single winter morning. In Local Objects he meandered this semi-rural Midwestern landscape through changing seasons in an abstract sequence. Made with an intensity of attention and a lightness of touch, the photographs are less about the confines of this specific time and place than about a poetic strategy for narrowing the distance between human desire and the factual content of the everyday world.
