Sebastian Wells – Utopia – Exhibition & Book Presentation

Saturday 19th January – 6pm

We are very happy to start our fifth year at Bildband Berlin with the work ‘Utopia’ by the Berlin based photographer Sebastian Wells. For us, ‘Utopia’ was one of the highlights from the last year and it’s great to talk about, and present that work at our space.

Sebastian Wells has worked for renowned newspapers, magazines, corporate clients and his own projects all over the world. From 2015 to 2018, he joined Ostkreuzschule in Berlin to study photography. He developed an individual documentary style while focussing on global social issues dealing with power, it’s staging and ultimately, humanity.

In his project Utopia, Wells examines the global phenomenon of refugee camps as permanent temporary measures – as large as a city and providing a universal humanitarian order and control. The work took him to seven countries in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. In 2019, Sebastian joined Ostkreuz Photographers Agency.
The photobook ‘Utopia’ was published in 2018 in an edition of 100 copies, we will offer the final copies on the evening.
The talk will be held in German.
